Virtual Accidental Grant Writer Training for Urban Indian Organizations
August 16, 2021 @ 12:00 am - August 17, 2021 @ 12:00 am
If you’re working or volunteering in the nonprofit sector, odds are you’ll find yourself writing or helping with a grant proposal someday. You might even inherit the responsibility of writing all of your organization’s grants—a prospect that can feel overwhelming, uncertain, and exciting!
Urban Indian Health Institute’s Accidental Grant Writer interactive virtual workshop will teach you about the proposal lifecycle, from research to submission, and how to develop a strong grant writing plan. You’ll explore and practice persuasive writing techniques to communicate your grant request in a way that highlights your organization’s strengths and wisdom. Participants will have opportunities throughout the workshop session to interact with staff of other urban Native programs and share learnings with each other. You’ll also have the chance to look at grant writing from the perspective of a grant reviewer by reading and assessing the strengths and weaknesses of a short grant proposal.
Each class session contains multiple breaks and will end with time for you to ask questions about the day’s learning. Participants will leave class with a toolkit of worksheets and templates to get you started on your grant writing journey.
When: August 16, 12:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. PT and August 17, 8:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m. PT
