Ending the Epidemics Training – Billings 2022
October 25, 2022 @ 12:00 am - October 26, 2022 @ 12:00 am
Purpose: As we emerge from COVID, the US as a whole and Indian Country, in particular, are seeing surges in the ‘syndemic’ of interrelated disease states of sexually transmitted infections, hepatitis C virus, and substance use disorder. We can reduce the incidence and impact of the syndemic via policy and practice modifications that fit the context of each community and health facility. These options include expanded screening, amplifying the roles of nursing and pharmacy staff, informatics solutions on the electronic health record, and more. The program will offer a free 2-day training (both in-person and virtual options for joining are available) to address the syndemic – with follow up virtual ECHO clinics to continue learning, knowledge sharing and support. The training will provide an overview and present implementation options, and where requested, assist with implementation. The training is not only informational—technical and other support needed to put policy and practice into place is available and encouraged. CE will be provided. Limited seating is available.
Who should attend: Tribal leaders, decision-makers, administration, physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, nurses, behavioral health specialists, nurses, chemical dependency counselors, peer support specialists, medical assistants, or others interested in learning new skills to effectively address the syndemic at I/T/U facilities are invited to attend.
Where: The Billings Depot, Passenger Station Room, 2310 Montana Ave, Billings, MT 59101 (In-person participation will follow all local COVID-19 guidance; participants are invited to stay safe by taking simple precautions, such as wearing a mask, and being vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19; rapid antigen testing for COVID-19 will be available); the training will also be offered virtually via Zoom.
When: October 25th and 26th
