U.S. SENATE – Senator Steve Daines today announced the availability of a grant opportunity through the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) for the FY 2017 Tribal Wildlife Grants (TWG) program.
The program provides a competitive funding opportunity for tribal governments to develop and implement programs for the benefit of wildlife and their habitat, including species of Native American cultural or traditional importance and species that are not hunted or fished.
Since 2003, the program has awarded more than $72 million to Native American tribes, providing support for more than 420 tribal conservation projects. To be accepted, project proposals must be received by September 2, 2016 to the appropriate FWS regional office and applicants are encouraged to work with their regional Service Native American liaisons to develop proposals.
For more information about projects supported through TWG and to apply, visit the FWS grant website. Information is also available from the Office of the National Native American Programs Coordinator of FWS in Vancouver, WA by calling 360-6-4-2531.
